To shamelessly rip off my husband, my favorite time of the day is also the hour or so that we spend every night lounging on the bed, just right before bedtime. He'll be reading a book and I'll be cramming copy writing, while sneaking a peek at blogs and gossip sites.

Every now and then, he'd read out a passage from whatever book he's currently reading (usually something basketball related) and I'd nod my head and make the necessary sounds to feign interest.

This is the world I move in and for that, I am grateful.

There's nary a drop of rain here in the super south but Typhoon Juan is supposed to make landfall from 8am to 10am today AND Metro Manila is now within its path.

I'm thisclose to skipping work today and G's super supportive.

There's supposed to ba a 5am news bulletin, waiting...

(Update at 5:20AM)

Landfall was moved from 8am to 6am and 4 more places were added to the signal no. 4 warning. I'm sitting this one out, regardless of the relatively lower signal warning in flood prone Manila. See you tomorrow officemates!

Now, whether or not to go to today's Makati events...

I am currently road testing Chopchop's touted non-heating capability by browsing blogs and showbiz news in bed. Yup, the new laptop is holding up splendidly.

Yay :)

On to other news, the judiciary has been affected with the austerity bug and some bonuses have been scrapped. I'm still crossing my fingers that this month's Emergency Assistance Fund will push through because that was supposed to go into my show money fund for my NZ visa application. It looks like we're up for hard times ahead.

I just finished reading Louis de Berniere's "Corelli's Mandolin" and it made me laugh, sniffle, gasp in horror and outrage. I gave myself a fantastic headache these past few days because I continued reading it even during bus rides.

Thus, I am so appalled at how the movie has taken liberties with the book and totally destroyed it. Turning it into a sappy love story. A LOVE STORY for crying out loud!!

Ok, granted that the love story between Pelagia and Captain Corelli was one of the main stories in the novel, it was not a love triangle by any stretch of imagination. It was a critical view of the war, the indecision and general "lapdogness" of the Italian army and how innocents are always the victims during these power plays.

In fairness to the movie though, the island of Cephallonia is better seen with your eyes (even if only through a screen) because nothing quite compares to actually seeing the greens and blues of the island. O sige, watching the movie was worth it just to be able to concretely visualize Cephallonia and the yearly miracle of St. Gerasimo. But otherwise, major fail.

I've always been a fan of Carlos Celdran, but my fandom doubled after he that protest he did a few days ago.

Celdran said that he had been actively advocating the passage of the RH bill for four years, and that his protest action happened on “the spur of the moment.”

“I was only planning to hold up the white board outside Manila Cathedral, but it was raining so I went inside. I was so near the altar that I got tempted, so I went ahead with my message. I thought it was only a regular Mass,” he said.

Asked if he would do the same thing again, Celdran laughingly replied: “I never wear the same clothes twice.

Full article here.

Just get the RH bill passed already, those who oppose the bill should be given a tour of the Manila and see all those barefooted kids running around begging for alms. Obviously, the rhythm method is a fail.

He would have been about a hundred years old today, if his condition was properly diagnosed more than ten years ago. And I firmly believe that he would have outlived us all.

Happy birthday Lolo Ange! I still miss you terribly :(
