Tonight, G exasperatedly told me that showbiz talk makes him puke and that we should never talk about celebrities ever again.

...and the monster has been effectively controlled.

Take that vile and evil diabetes!

Thank you God :)

Tonight I will rant.

Anyway, it's no longer a secret that G's undergoing medication for diabetes (we tried to keep it a secret but obviously it was a major fail after my mom greeted me one weekend with: Heto, painom mo kay Gary para sa diabetes niya) so he's been having some blood and urine as well as other tests, done.

The first time was at the Hi-Precision Center near Madox and 11 tests plus abdomen ultrasound amounted to Php2,655.

Today, he had his blood and urine tested again at Humana Wellness Center in Sta. Rosa and I was absolutely dumbfounded with how inflated their prices are!

What follows is a side by side comparison of the prices from Hi- Precision Center and Humana Wellness Center for the same tests. First figure is Hi-Precision, second figure is Humana.

Fasting Blood Sugar- 70p vs 200p
Lipid Profile- 370p vs. 810p
SGPT- 95p vs 265p
Routine Urinalysis- 65p vs. 90p
Calcium- 100p vs 265p

Hi Precision Total= 700p
Humana Wellness Center Total= 1630p

Difference= PHP930

TOTAL RIP-OFF!!!!

I guess that's the price of convenience right there.

So to all fellow Sta Rosa'ers reading this, avoid Human Wellness Center and save yourself a pretty bundle that you can then spend on eating out (to further increase your cholesterol level:p).

There's another clinic in the Walter Mart building, but I'm quite wary about that clinic because when I specifically asked about the price range of the tests, the receptionist couldn't give me a straight answer and guarded the same like it was the original Coke recipe. So G, looks like it's back to TM Kalaw for you next month. Sorry luv. Mwah!

I have finally printed out the New Zealand visa guide and application.

I haven't thoroughly gone over the documents yet, but here are some quick observations:

1) The tourist visa fee is waived for visits below 59 days.
2) There is no interview and walk-ins will not be accommodated.
3) Documents will be picked up by the embassy's accredited courier.
4) Proof of financial capacity seems to be the foremost requirement.
5) Processing time is usually 15 working days, but those with valid visas from the US, among other select first world countries, will have their applications processed for 5 or less working days.
6) The application form is 16 pages long because spouses and children below 21 years old can also be included in the application.

That's all for now. Must make ipon na pala now na.

Tomorrow is my personal holiday. Because a bunch of us CA lawyers were made to attend a seminar last Friday, a national holiday, we get to offset that day with any day in September and I choose tomorrow.

So tomorrow, I will not wake up to the annoying peals of my cellphone's alarm clock.

Hurrah! Hurrah!

I'm having a hate fest by my lonesome self right now.

Hate fests are usually more satisfying when shared with someone also prone to cackling (right Tessa?:p), but more often than not, hate fests leave me feeling dirty and with the pronounced thought of: Eh bakit ba? Bakit ka nakikialam sa buhay ng may buhay? Siya naman gumastos sa birthday niya so keber ka lang kung feel niya mag-model-modelan.

So I'm removing that source of stress and will resist the urge to search for it when the need to succumb to pettiness arises.

This evening, I watched with equal parts amazement and disgust as half a dozen maggots were attacked by black ants on our kitchen floor.

The ants mercilessly bit (at least I assumed they did) the maggots, which in turn curled inwards and/or tried to move as fast as they could away from the vicious ants. I never knew worms could move that fast.

I have never been fond of ants, but after experiencing their teamwork in carrying a dead cricket (which I stepped on thus its untimely demise) and their perseverance in picking up the said cricket after it fell about half a dozen times when the ants reached the underside of the window ledge, I developed a grudging respect for them. And now after witnessing how they made mincemeat of those maggots, all I can say is: Go ants go!

P.S.

The kitchen is G's domain, so if there are maggots on the kitchen floor, that's his fault not mine:p

P.P.S.

I actually took a video of the carnage, but I still have to figure out how to minimize the video size because it won't load in Flickr (same with the video of the fast one we pulled on parents when my sister secretly arrived from New Zealand a few months ago).

I'm owning it.

I'm going to New Zealand early next year.

So must research on visa requirements, save up for the plane fare and other expenses and get myself in the kiwi frame of mind.

Ocular inspection na ba Toni?:p

Sometimes I think that G and I can just stay in our little hidey hole without even stepping out for days on end.

We'd blog and write for income (every other person's fantasy!).

Bills can be paid via online banking.

Laundry can be picked up and dropped off by our laundry house of choice.

Shopping can be done online.

And grocery shopping can be done via text.

I love TxDel! We only need to send a text for our order and less than an hour later, the delivery boy makes an appearance. And just when I thought TxDel couldn't get better, they gave us this brown envelope with a rice sample and small cards with our account information for ordering convenience.

Right now we only order drinking water from them but they also deliver LPG gas, vegetables and meat stuff. Ang galing!

But reality inevitably rears its ugly head because blogging doesn't keep the checks coming, or when it does, it's at 3 month or more intervals:p so hello day job!
