Guess who arrived last night?

Hello Matron of Honor! So nice to see you again :)

Tuesday, March 30, 2010

Our realtor showed us a 3 bedroom place in the nearby village yesterday and it was love at first sight for me!!

Unfortunately (or thankfully), G did not fall as easily and pointed out several things about it:

1) It's on the 3rd floor
2) There's no provision for a box aircon unit in the space big enough to be our bedroom
3) The daytime heat may be fantastic considering that it's on the third floor and right next to the roof.
4) It has wooden floors so we have to literally tread lightly so as not to annoy those living in the second floor.

Every one of them very valid concerns right there.

We looked at the space at about 6pm yesterday so the heat had long dissipated by then thereby we could not gauge how hot it really gets. So today, G will stop by the place again (our realtor lent us the keys to the place, she trusts us that much:p) at around lunch time to check it out when the sun is at its fiercest.

I'm crossing my fingers that it will pass G's approval because I really, really do like the place.

I'll post pictures if we end up getting the place, otherwise, there's no use hurting myself. Sniff.

What's better than walking all day in rubber shoes? Walking all day in NEW rubber shoes!

Everyone, please meet my new silk lined rubber shoes from Simple Shoes. I have a strong feeling we'll have a lot of good memories of the pedestrian kind together, just like it's white canvass predecessor (also from Simple Shoes) which accompanied me through many pavement poundings and the freezing cold, with or without snow.

I'm off to an interview now in Las Pinas, sadly I can't wear my rubber shoes to this one. It's my second interview and though I have a good feeling about this place, I'm slightly held back by my previous experience in a corporate setting. I'm not sure I want to jump from one corporate maze to another, although what are the chances of lightning striking the same place twice right?

At any rate, I already received a job offer from a firm in Alabang (at least I think it was a job offer) and I like the partners, they seem like really nice and down to earth people. Anyway, let's see what happens.

Later!

I went to Gracie's bridal shower last Saturday only to find out that it was a joint bridal shower for the two of us!

You got me there Blockies:p

There were games.

Like Pinoy Henyo and charades.

And gifts.

Thanks so much Blockies!!!

The crown is now with Gracie and the scepter is with me. The two will be passed on to the next Blockie who will get married. I love traditions, specially those as fun and meaningful as this one :)

Ok, so there's such a thing as being too happy in a protest rally:p

Guess who was also there? Mimi Girl!

With she who has crossed the rubicon. I had to force G to take this picture, but you have to admit it's a great photo-op. I'm still not voting for her though:p

Burn baby burn

FYI, Cong. Risa Hontiveros-Baraquel filed a Motion for Reconsideration for their disqualification case against GMA. I'm positive that it will (a) not be acted upon in time for the elections and (b) will be denied when it is acted upon, months after the election.

What else can be expected from a kangaroo court.

Maddie: What time is it?
Me: It's 8:20pm.
Maddie: 8pm?! Oh no! My show is on! (turns on tv) (John Estrada appears on tv and a kid falls down the stairs. Show is Agua Bendita).
Me: You like that?
Maddie: Uh-huh. Agua.
Me: Why do you like it?
Maddie: Because there are 2 kids and they're swimming.

How in the world will I survive my days of unemployment without my daily chats with Maddie?:p

Maddie: How many more sleeps until I'm a flower girl?
Me: Let's count... (counting days using the organizer). 46 more sleeps until the wedding.
Maddie: So long time! Will tito Gary be there?
Me: I hope so

Pacquiao-Clottey match at our house. Bring your own baon to enter.

The feed kept on stopping and it would have been frustrating if not for the fact that Clottey was probably even slower than the connection.

Ibirit mo Arnel.

The mommies. The daddies stayed outside in the lanai.

Happy birthday Ranilo!!

Joey close-up.

These two couldn't care less what was happening:p

Time moves so quickly in unemployment land, I can't believe it's already Friday tomorrow!

Here's a recap of this week's events:

Monday- G attended an accounting for non-accountants seminar in Libis. He's now itching to try his hand at a balance sheet, so I guess that means the seminar was interesting.

I had dinner with Vic and Aggie at Aggie's house. The plan was to discuss the wedding, but we ended up just gabbing away and eating Ikea hazelnut chocolate. And Vic also gave us Ikea wall clocks from her recent trip to Singapore. That's something I neglected to do when I went to the US, I wasn't able to go to an Ikea outlet. sniff.

Tuesday- G and I had our canonical interview. We were interviewed separately and I was asked showbiz questions like: "How do you know he's the one?" and "Mamahalin mo pa rin ba siya in spite of his flaws?". While G and the priest discussed basketball. The priest was practically high-fiving G when they went back to the parish office.

G and I also went around several buildings in Madrigal Business Park to check out if there were law firms there for resume submitting purposes. I got the names of 5 or 6 law firms so yay :)

Wednesday- That day's highlight was bubble-wrapping the Avon goodies and filling out the waybills in Xend. Yup, definitely a slow day.

Thursday (today)- I went to the Presentation church to submit our marriage banns document only to be told that my parish is actually the Resurrection church in Phase 1. Who knew right? Anyway, have to go back to the Resurrection church to give our pictures for the marriage banns.

I then went to the flower vendors near the market to ask about their prices for bouquets. Both Aggie and Margot informed me that the vendors there had Dangwa like prices and that they also deliver to the venue. And true enough, the prices seemed very reasonable, I doubt that it would be any cheaper in Dangwa, or if they are, I'm not gonna go all the way to Manila for a Php100 difference per bouquet.

I made my downpayment and so bouquets can now be crossed off my checklist.

Friday- I have an interview scheduled with a law firm near Town and I'll also be submitting my resume to the law firms around the area.

Afterwards, it's off to Taguig for us because there's a product launch in Bonifacio High Street in the afternoon and G wants to watch "Up in the Air".

Saturday- Go to Ryna's house to visit her new baby and discuss MOH and BM dress issues with Alain. FYI, my friend Ryna's husband is my go-to guy for my abay's dresses (I don't dare call them gowns because they really are just dresses) because his family owns this dress making shop and he's the one managing it now. It's actually funny to see this humongous 6 foot plus guy talking about lace and tulle:p

And that's how my week went, or will go.

While Ruffa was currently walking out of The Buzz, we were watching Randy's Dulaang UP play.

I think this is the second time I saw him play the lead character but the first time I was amazed to see his transformation. Usually, when I see him play a character, I still see Randy on stage. This time around, I couldn't see any trace of him in Arturo Ui, that was a totally different person on stage.

It was actually chilling to see him play Hitler.

Good job dude :)

The new Sunday brunch.

We miss you Tita/Ninang Kwissy!

I brought Maddie to the play area at Town last Friday.

Guess who showed up while I was registering Maddie?

Talk about kid paradise, they had the whole play area for themselves. Mean Girls in the house!

It was my first time at Blue Leaf Pavilion and the place is pretty nice even with the ongoing infestation of giant floral arrangements.

The bathroom had this really relaxing and soothing vibe, probably to help you get in the mood while primping. I loved the lounge chair and the full length mirror (ang taba ko na pala! argh! damn these birthing hips!)

And just so we all know, those are not one way mirrors behind me. The gardeners can see everything going on inside the bathroom, well, not really everything. But still, I'd be a little more discreet in fixing that wedgie if I were you... :p

The Canon guy is teaching me how to use Tilda's manual setting here. However, I'm still pretty much glued on auto. Auto is love.

I think we're watching the movie today, but even without watching Tim Burton's latest release, which opens today (March 4, 2010) I really, really want this pocket watch!

Az is holding this contest at his blog with the watch as the grand prize.

This post right here is just for compliance and I'll try to make another one after watching the movie.

Team White Queen!

I just finished writing a book review for Mom Exchange, not sure how it fits there but it's a review of a children's book so that should count for something.

Anyway, we met with Maite of Cake Concepts (one of Gary's closest friends) last week to discuss our wedding cake. So far, the plan is to have a two layer cake with a typical Santorini house on top, in keeping with the Greek motif.

I also met up with some high school friends over the weekend to pick their brains as regards decking out the courtyard.

Aissa came up with a fantastic seating layout and I am more than determined to do away with the tents and to have oodles and oodles of lights similar to the wedding reception at another HS classmate's wedding in Boracay.

The look we are going for is Mamma Mia, without the uncertainty of paternity.

On the employment front, I am now part of a pool of lawyers to be tapped for different projects. But I'm still looking for something more regular and within the South lang, so will be sending out resumes tomorrow to the law firms and companies in Alabang. After all, why stray far from the Drrrrty south?
