Today I:

1) Saw the coolest pair of gladiators inside a jeep.

2) Finalized our wedding invitations.

3) Watched "Miss You Like Crazy"

4) Saw a Blockie's sister.

5) And picked out a swimsuit.

Tomorrow, we'll be in a roomful of Canon cameras and will discuss cake related stuff with our cake sponsor.

Busy, busy.

Feeling a little blah.

Hopefully, tomorrow's microdermabrasion session at the VMV research center in Makati will cure this feeling of blech.

Today's plans were canceled because of my fever (most probably caused by my ear infection).

G was supposed to have his confirmation today but he backed out because I was sick and needed to rest.

Methinks somebody's just delaying...:p

Anyway, it was nice to sleep in the whole day. My fever has gone down and has left a dull headache in its place. But this is a vast improvement from last night's weirdness.

I had just gone to bed and suddenly started shivering uncontrollably. It was like I was suddenly thrust inside a freezer (without feeling cold) and couldn't stop shaking. I turned off the fan and put on a jacket, shaking the entire time. This went on for about 30 minutes or so and I must have fallen asleep because I woke up exhausted and with a slight fever.

So obviously, all plans for the day had to be rescheduled.

I'm almost afraid to go to sleep tonight, I don't want a repeat session :(

Highlights of the week

1. Finished 31 units for MCLE (I skipped a 3 hour and 2 hour lecture:P)
2. Sat down with Chef Merv and Josie of Sophia's to discuss the menu as well as how the courtyard will be set up. I'm bringing in a professional next week to survey the place, and by professional I mean Aissa:p

3. Made the downpayment for 110 guests (I've put my foot down at 110 guests. Guest list closed na)
4. Sent out the text for the invitations. Will see the mock-up next week.
5. Went to Ortigas for my biometrics ID
6. Bought cheap shades (I don't know why this is a highlight but I always get giddy with new shades)

I swear, this week just whizzed right by. Of course, it didn't feel that way in the middle of the lectures, but thankfully I won't have to go through that again any time soon.

Things to do next week

1. Get marriage license from city hall
2. Finalize invitations
3. Attend swimsuit launch
4. Insurance company event (I hope I win the trip for two to Switzerland! My main reason for attending the event:p)

Yesterday, G and I stopped by St. Jerome to check if the 4:30pm slot on May 1 was still available. And just our luck, there was an ongoing mass wedding so we stayed on to kibitz.

There was no more "giving away" of the bride to the groom as the couples already entered the church together. If they had a flower girl or ring bearer, the kids participated in the march, but there were no bridesmaids, maids of honor and all that jazz.

The couples were assigned to their respective pews.

It was very orderly and solemn and I nudged G to ask him: "Why didn't we think of that?"

Next we went to Sophia's to check out how they would deck out their courtyard at night. That's the owner wearing jeans.

Ok, so the place was not decked out at all and the umbrellas are hideous. But the courtyard has a lot of potential and the owners seem eager to accommodate all our ideas.

So far, we have agreed to remove the red Marlboro umbrellas and string lights across the courtyard. I'll probably kill myself for saying this, but my inspiration for the courtyard is the final scene in Twilight (which G insisted on watching last night) where Edward and Bella are dancing inside a gazebo. I want the courtyard to be that lit up with all sorts of twinkling lights and bulbs.

And we have to do something about the tables too. Must. Prettify.

The courtyard in nearby Ilustrado had a much formal set-up, definitely more suited for a wedding.

Now that I've more or less wrapped up the church and reception, my next obsession is table settings.

Today's plan is to move the wedding slot from 11am to 4:30pm, then call Mr. Merv to block off the courtyard for May 1.

Let's do this!

Today I took photos of some products for future KE posts using Tilda the point and shoot.

Then I tried out some of the products, although I doubt that this photo will ever make it past my personal site:p

And finally, I admired my pedicure and foot spa from Get Polished.

Now can somebody please tell me how I can get paid for doing this all day everyday?

I'm halfway done with my MCLE, just 2 more 9 hour sessions for next week and then hello MCLE compliance number for the next 3 years!

Although listening to the 10 hour lectures (with an hour long lunch break) can get pretty challenging, it made me realize that I actually miss school and the discipline required of higher studies. Or maybe I was just encouraged with how obviously passionate the speakers were with their respective fields. Ah passion, you continue to elude me.

Check out these koi from Nuvali!

Keep the little guys happy for only Php15 a pack.

What the father of the bride said:

I remember when Menchu was about 4 years old, I brought her along with me to Phase 1. We were in the car, I was driving and she was seated beside me. She was so small then and parang naka t-shirt and panty lang nga yata siya non. While we were along Aguirre Ave., this car suddenly made a turn in front of us prompting me to hit my brakes. It all happened so suddenly that I had just enough time to hug Menchu with my left arm, while my right hand was on the steering wheel. I was able to prevent her from hitting the dashboard and when our car stopped, she pointed to the other car and said: "Shoot him Papa! Kill him!"

Kaya mag-ingat ka sa anak ko Ian, may killer instinct heto. At black belter pa yan sa taekwondo, same with her three brothers.

That was probably the best speech I've ever heard :)

Tonight will be the second wedding that I'll be attending in Fernbrook ever since 2010 rolled in, with 2 more scheduled Fernbrook weddings within the year. Fernbrook has become the unofficial wedding venue of the Dirrrrty South.

This was taken at Mark and Tina's wedding around the second week of January. This time around, it will be Menchu and Ian's wedding and we're singing! Gasp. Here's to awkward performances for the love of long-time friends:P

And yes, mahangin sa labas

Speaking of weddings, G and I applied for our marriage license at the Paranaque City Hall yesterday and we'll be getting it on February 16 :)

Next up, finalize the reception venue!

Thursday, February 04, 2010

So we finally have the CENOMAR and G's baptismal certificate. Now I'm just waiting for my baptismal cert (c/o Tito Sandy) and confirmation cert. (c/o Margot).

Now that we have G's birth and baptismal cert. we can sigh him up for confirmation in our parish....together with the 7th graders. Kidding aside, these parish sponsored confirmations are usually attended by people who need a confirmation cert. to get married. In fact, one friend recounted that at her own confirmation, they were all adults and the priest said something like: "Siguro kung hindi kayo ikakasal, di kayo magpapakumpil no?" Thus, there's no need to be shy friends:p

Now that the documents are almost complete (save for the barangay clearance which I will definitely work on today), we can apply for the marriage license by next week and be subjected to the legendary family planning seminars. Fun!

With that almost done, the next thing is to finalize the reception. Plan A is to rent the Zobel theater lobby and have it catered by Conti's or Center Table. Plan B is to have it done in a restaurant.

I have to say though that Plan B is looking mighty attractive right now. I was able to talk with the owners of Sophia's (a Mediterranean restaurant) and they invited me to come back for dinner on Feb. 13 to check out how they set up the patio for dinner. They said that they really deck out the place with lights, lamps etc. and I'm excited that it might look like my original "Mamma Mia" white wedding reception fantasy.

If Plan B pushes through I'll have to a) have the wedding reset from 11am to 4:30pm and b) be prepared to augment the budget my dad is shouldering for the reception. But it's all good because going with Plan B means that I won't have to worry about chairs, tables, table cloths, decorations and other inconsequential things that make my non-OC soul quiver with fear. At this stage of the preps, my favorite sentence is: "We'll take care of everything."

So here's hoping that Feb. 13 turns out well.

Alright, so things have finally settled down. And after all the drama and revelations, I'm back in my ratty t-shirt and shorts in the middle of the day, sneaking a blog post while doing my racket.

Yes, I am again unemployed.

Let me just state for the record that I do not regret working for Cebu Pacific. The horrible treatment I got from that odious person is significantly overshadowed by the tremendous show of support from my friends these past few days and the generally fantastic experience I've had with the company (customer issues notwithstanding).

So now that I've recouped and had time to lick my wounds, this is all I have to say to you:
