This song gets me every time.
I have a friend who has the voice and the looks necessary to pull off this song. I bet if and when he does perform this, he'll have all the girls sighing and dreaming. Unfortunately, said friend is now batting for the other team.
"Hey there Joe what's it like in New York City?
I'm a thousand miles away but boy tonight you look so pretty.
Yes you do.
Times Square can't shine as bright as you.
I swear it's true."

This is why I switch stations when the music stops and the DJ(s) starts talking:
(Van Halen's "Jump" finishes)
DJ: Man! How much would you pay to watch Van Halen perform that live?!?!
Junior Jock: Ummm....ten thousand?
DJ: Riiiight.
Rhetorical question anyone?
When I was still in school and had to do the 1.5 hours one way journey every single day, I would have my radio on Jam 88.3 or 89.1, not because I was partial to jazz but mostly because their DJs just introduced the songs and left it at that. No mindless chatter, no unsolicited opinions, no nothing.
I'll take my morning radio black please, with no cream and chitchat.

For Joan's bridal shower (and Heidi's belated one), I decided to leave Toyang at home and just take the shuttle to Makati.
This meant saving on gas, parking and toll fees, as well as leaving the party by 10pm to make it to the last trip.
The terminal was a good 10-15 minute brisk walk from BSA Tower and by the time I reached the BF El Grande shuttle, I was the last passenger in the last shuttle for that night (much to the chagrin of the two people behind me)! Talk about good timing.
It reminds me of the time when I lined up for hours for an STS slot in UP, and when it was my turn to register, the RA was like: You should win an award or something, this is the last slot for all the STS classes. But that was the 5:30-7pm TF class, so it wasn't really the best schedule in the world, but beggars can't be choosers.
However, luck hasn't always been with me because the one time I went to the SSS office in Alabang (probably the most ghetto of all the SSS offices in the Philippines), I got in line for the SSS ID form only to find out that the girl in front of me received the last available form for the day (they have a daily quota system).
That's life for you I guess, sometimes you get the last cookie and sometimes you don't. So you just have to take whatever it decides to hand out.
As for the two passengers after me, they rode the Multinational-Sucat shuttle which also passes by the BF-McDonalds entrance. So no, I didn't feel bad about taking the last seat:p

This is how it looked a few years back.

And this is how it looks now.

Fug? You betcha! And put in the non-stop all-day, all-night blaring karaoke to the mix and you've got yourself a nuisance per se.
We used to climb over those rocks to get to the tip and bask in the 270 degree view it afforded. Or when it was high tide, we'd take a banca and moor it near the point and clamber over the rocks to get to the top.
It used to be called "Kabagtingan" (bagting= sound a bell makes) because some of the rocks sounded like a gong when pounded with another rock. We'd bang on the rocks and pretend to call the Agta who supposedly lived in the cave under the rocks (I really believed there was an otherworldly creature who lived there because we once saw plates and spoons near the entrance of the cave! Of course they had to belong to the agta!!:p).
Another uncle used to just sit there for hours and imagine that he was the king of the ocean or some hocum like that:p
That fug structure just keeps on getting bigger and bigger every time I come back to my lolo's house. And it's right on top of the sea, which is public dominion and not susceptible to private ownership. Perhaps they weren't informed of such a small detail when they procured their permit to build? If they indeed have a permit...
I probably should just shut my trap and not ruffle any feathers, but it's difficult when I know that my grandparents really value the serenity of their surroundings. In fact, their daily ritual includes sitting along the beach and watching the sunset. But now, the view has been marred by The Fug.

Shame.

Apparently Team Philippines in Amazing Race Asia 3 is in the top 3 and the final leg will be shown on Thursday.
But somehow I'm not excited over this race and it's because:
1) There are no crushable guys in the race(no hunk factor like Marc and Rovilson)
2) Geoff is one scary dude (watch out Trish, that guy is a potential batterer).
3) The racers look average (admit it, it's more interesting to watch attractive people on tv).
4) AD and Fuzzy are scary. Seriously, is Fuzzy a boy or a girl?
5) Most of the teams are blah, zzzz and zzzngork.
6) They whine all the time, with Ms. Universe taking the crown, scepter and sash as the biggest whiner of all.
I hope the all-star race is much better. Bring back the hot people please! Watching Average Joes gets tiresome after a while, even if they are eating friend insects and worms.

This was the first wedding I attended at Fernbrook. It's a lovely place but terribly expensive to book! I'm quite concerned with how slowly they're building it though, it's been operational for almost a year now but I think it's not yet completely finished AND I saw some signs of wear and tear (paint was chipping and faded in some parts of the church). Looks like they weren't able to properly maintain the place, it probably costs a fortune to keep it running.
But I digress.
Pictures from Ryna and Alain's wedding.

Rynie-Pynie

Motif was autumn colors, so maroon, yellow-orange and orange.

A very ecstatic Alain :)

I borrowed Mimi's bouquet.

The choir with Fr.Jeff

The gorgeous hanging lights.

The choir in action. We sang (1) The Promise and (2) Sa Yo Lamang (alternate song because the organist had to leave early so we couldn't sing Now That I Have You from The Company)

Cheers to the newlyweds! With the one and only Daddy Groovy during the post-wedding drinks with the usual suspects. (That's supposed to be my "tough girl" look. Note to self: Retire said look)

Happy birthday G!

Yesterday in court:
(Roll call of the accused, with the respective counsels entering their appearances)
Judge: (calls out name of the accused)
Counsel: Atty. Rabe for the Accused your Honor
Judge: You're the counsel? What are you doing back there? Come here in front.
(Mark goes to the front)
Judge: What's your name again Counsel?
Mark: Atty. Rabe your Honor.
Judge: Rabe? As in grabe?
Jill and Sir Te: Without the "G"
:)
It's always nice to see a familiar face inside the courtroom, moreso when that familiar face belongs to the Talented Mr.Rabe :)

I've totally neglected my Flickr 365 days project :(
I'm about 2 weeks behind and that's not even counting the days I skipped in between self-portraits.
It's kinda difficult to think of self-portrait concepts when I just end up doing the same things over and over again, day in and day out.
But I'll try to shake this off, must force myself to resume Flickring. Sayang ang pro account ko!
