Julia- future cardiologist/rocket scientist.

Further proof that Julia aka "Baguyguy" is a genius.

P.S. I really don't know who owns that Fluid Mechanics with Engineering Applications book, but every time someone wants to act all intellectual in our house, that book is the most convenient prop for a quick photo-op:p

I was downed by yesterday's palabok dinner, so in effect, I have to be within running distance of a toilet bowl at all times today.

Elegance personified, that would be me.

At least I ended up having a three day weekend :)

Regarding my last post, I thought of another reason why I'm still at my firm (and why those new lawyers from the south should consider it), the managing partner is one of those OC perfectionist types which on paper sounds horrible, but in reality is great training for any young lawyer. Pleadings are double, triple and quadruple checked and he's always concerned about your growth as a lawyer, giving you tips and lessons culled from his years of practice. He's quick to praise, but on the flipside, also quick to get exasperated (but don't worry about that, he's a lamb).

So I realized that in spite of the relatively below average pay, I will still go to this firm if I had to do it all over again because of: (1) the training that the managing partner provides, (2) the short distance from my house (perfect for the traffic phobes), (3) free parking (which is actually just a bonus because the trike station is a mere 5 minutes walk from my office) and (4) pleasant working conditions (everyone gets along). The first two are the main reasons for me while the last two are really just gravy (although try working in an office with warring people, definitely not a productive scenario).

Honestly speaking, when I started working, money was really the least of my priorities, I just wanted a mentor who would guide me during my first year of actual practice. And that was exactly what I got.

To recap, any new lawyer who lives in the south, who wants to hone his/her skills as a litigator should definitely consider our firm (and email his/her resume to jillsabs@gmail.com).

No shit.

I'm waiting for the car ban to lift, or for it to get dark enough so I can slip past the voracious Las Pinas cops unnoticed. Whichever comes first.

Sneaky moves under the cover of darkness. Just like a spy.

A sexy spy!

Yeah...

Heto serious na: Our firm urgently needs another associate lawyer. So if you (or someone you know) is a lawyer based in the South, do send your resume to jillsabs@gmail.com.

I'd like to say that the pay is spectacular but I'd be lying:p

But if you're from the south, the commute will be negligible (we're in the Madrigal Business area), hours are pretty lax and you'll have attractive officemates (ehem!). That's about it really, don't even know why I'm still here to be honest.

Ok. After that, I'm sure that the resumes will start pouring in like mad.

Must.get.out.of.here.

Weekends usually have great timing. Almost right at the exact moment when I'm about to lose my sanity from all this idiocy, bam! the weekend arrives.

How's that for divine intervention? :)

I had a very busy weekend.

Had lunch in Tagaytay last Saturday with my choir friends, then it was back to the city for dinner at one choirmate's house. Of course, dinner then segued into happy hour and while the others downed glass after glass of rum coke, I was more than satisfied with my two bottles of San Mig Lite. What can I say, I don't like the morning after effects of hard liquor.

Then come Sunday morning, it was time for Maddie's birthday party at Fun Ranch at Westgate. I specifically enjoyed watching the Chu look alike magician do his tricks. And even the kids were transfixed. I guess kids (and kids at heart) will always be a sucker for magic.

Next, G, Tessa and I had lunch at Chi's. As expected, Chi's did not disappoint.

Then, it was on to La Salle where G and I picked up Liway for dinner. In a nutshell: Civ was loooong and Tax was a killer. But at least the Bar's halfway done. And then the waiting begins....

We ended up having dinner (Liway had dinner, I had dessert) at Krok Grill in front of Manila Bay. I never knew that that area existed, I thought all the eating areas were inside MOA. Being beside the sea made me miss Cebu and Biliran though. It's a good thing that we're going back to Agta for Joan's wedding on October. Yay!

So all in all, it was a very busy and expensive weekend! Don't even want to compute how much I spent of food:p But hanging out with friends and family is always worth it, so I'll do it all again in a heartbeat, pero sa susunod na sweldo na lang siguro... :)

The race begins and Team Philippines placed second!

What's up with that spoiled brat Mai?! ("Don't carry my bag then! You always complain after I let you carry it!")

Hassle.

Cutie pa naman si Oliver and he almost single-handedly carried the team to first place.

Ayan, Thursday nights are stay at home nights na naman.

Same with Wednesday nights (Project Runway Philippines).

Actually, Monday, Tuesday and Friday nights are all stay at home nights too.

Mahirap maging dukha.

I still have a hangover from the weekend, or maybe it's just the after-effects of that iced cappuccino I had yesterday afternoon? I swear, coffee does weird things to me!

Anyway, the bar exams officially kicked off yesterday and G and I visited Liway at her hotel room Saturday night, where we came upon a mini party of some sort. Visual proof of Liway's popularity, the well-wishers kept on coming the entire night.

According to Goldilocks and Red Ribbon, yesterday was Grandparents' Day. My mom is currently in Bacolod with the other Bigatins, so yesterday was just Grandpa's day for our household. Here's my dad with his enemy number one: cholesterol.

Ate Bing called Peachy from Canada about two weeks ago to remind her that Jared Avery (Ate Bing's son) just recently celebrated his birthday. Ate Bing asked if we could drop by her house and say hello to her son or something. And so we did, bringing a cake and some toys along. Afterwards, we hied off to a coffeeshop and blabbed away. Note my bright pink nails, I know some might think that they're too kikay, even for me, but rest assured that they are there in the name of research. Am currently road testing this brand. It's all about science for me. And test tubes.

Ayoko pa magtrabaho!! Argh.

My morning hearing was canceled so I'll finally trek back to the gym after a two week hiatus:p

I don't even know why I ever thought I was a gym person to begin with. Sweat? Eeew!

When I regularly went to the gym, I lost weight so fast it was scary. So I ended up going just for the steam bath, but then I found out that it actually exacerbated back acne so I had to stop that.

But I think I'll be hitting the gym more regularly from now on. After all, I'll still be paying for it whether or not I actually go so might as well. And with my current monthly obligations, the gym might be the only place I can still afford to go to (sad I know).

So there, I'm going back to the gym. Thanks to Nike for G's GC which I used to buy a dri-fit shirt and pink tank top with built in sports bra.

That's it pansit. Going to sleep now.

Can't believe how much rambling I did just now.

Btw, happy birthday Maddie!

Confetti mania inside the house. The bits and pieces were from four or five regular sized party poppers. The big party poppers (like the one Maddie's holding) were reserved for Maddie's birthday party two Sundays from now.
