I was downed by yesterday's palabok dinner, so in effect, I have to be within running distance of a toilet bowl at all times today.
Elegance personified, that would be me.
At least I ended up having a three day weekend :)
Regarding my last post, I thought of another reason why I'm still at my firm (and why those new lawyers from the south should consider it), the managing partner is one of those OC perfectionist types which on paper sounds horrible, but in reality is great training for any young lawyer. Pleadings are double, triple and quadruple checked and he's always concerned about your growth as a lawyer, giving you tips and lessons culled from his years of practice. He's quick to praise, but on the flipside, also quick to get exasperated (but don't worry about that, he's a lamb).
So I realized that in spite of the relatively below average pay, I will still go to this firm if I had to do it all over again because of: (1) the training that the managing partner provides, (2) the short distance from my house (perfect for the traffic phobes), (3) free parking (which is actually just a bonus because the trike station is a mere 5 minutes walk from my office) and (4) pleasant working conditions (everyone gets along). The first two are the main reasons for me while the last two are really just gravy (although try working in an office with warring people, definitely not a productive scenario).
Honestly speaking, when I started working, money was really the least of my priorities, I just wanted a mentor who would guide me during my first year of actual practice. And that was exactly what I got.
To recap, any new lawyer who lives in the south, who wants to hone his/her skills as a litigator should definitely consider our firm (and email his/her resume to firstname.lastname@example.org).
