I stayed in yesterday after arriving ridiculously early from Cebu and what was intended to be a day for catching up on sleep did not push through.

Who needs sleep with such a riveting Senate investigation? You really can't make this up.

Best Moment: When Lozada defended himself from Arroyo's accusations of bias ("Sir, it's not true that I only met up with Sen. Lacson, I also met up with your wife. So you can't say that I favored the opposition.") Talk about being caught with your pants down. I'm sure Mrs. Joker Arroyo (the legal one?) had a lot to explain to the good senator later that night.

Best Comedic Break: When Chiz Escudero asked Mike Defensor: "Magkaibigan ba tayo?" to which Mike answered: "Oo naman". Chiz (oo, close rin kami) then quipped: "So pag kailangan ko rin ng Php50,000 pahihiramin mo rin ako?"

Best Monologue: Mike Defensor's recollection of his conversation with Lozada: Pare, kung kailangan mo ng tulong, pare nandito lang ako. Pare, gawin mo ang sa palagay mo ang tama, pare." I wish someone noted every "Pare" that came out from Defensor's mouth, my guess is 1,549 times. But I could be wrong, it could be more.

Best Turn-around: When Atienza conceded that Lozada never said that someone spat on him: "Kung wala ngang dura-dura na yan, eh di mabuti. Masaya ako na wala palang dinuraan o naduraan." (I wonder who fed them this "fact"? Pahiya tuloy si Atienza).

But the person(s) who should be getting a special prize is the legal adviser (or legal department) of the PNP who told Razon that the Senate cannot effect a warrant of arrest outside the Senate grounds. As Cayetano succinctly said: "Have you heard of Sabio vs. Gordon. The SC upheld Sabio's arrest in his office, far from the Senate. So where did you get your basis that all arrests must be done only within Senate grounds?" or something to that effect. Anyway, said legal adviser wins the "Ooooohhh...you're in so much trouble now! Award"

On second thought, they should all be getting a similar award too. God knows they all deserve it.

mine is when senator lacson asked a very distinguished lawyer and up law professor why he no longer teaches and whether he has sexual harassment cases. and the answer was, "no, just libel."

i wonder how many generations of up law students snorted at that answer?:-)

i know for a fact na legal wife niya nga ni joker yon. teka panong naging issue to sa zte?

anon: senator arroyo's wife wasn't brought up during the zte trials but during the investigation regarding lozada's alleged kidnapping.

during sen. arroyo's investigation of lozada, the former said that lozada has been very biased in his interviews. that (1)all his interviews were with abs-cbn reporters and; (2)he kept on hobnobbing with opposition senators (i.e. sen. lacson).

in response, lozada said: that's not true, i haven't been biased at all. i have had an interview with mike enriquez of gma-7 and just recently, atty. abaya (??) brought me over to your (sen. arroyo's) house to talk with your wife. so see, i haven't been exclusively communicating with the opposition because i've also talked with your wife.

that's not a direct quotation though, but that's how i remembered it.
