I cooked pancakes for breakfast today. This was how the first one looked like.
A quick consultation with Neneng revealed that I used the wrong kind of frying pan and too little oil (doh!) So I switched to a thicker frying pan and used more cooking oil.
The next batches were definitely a vast improvement from my first try.
Et voila. The finished product. I'm proud to say that they were immediately polished a few minutes after :) It wasn't Pancake House quality but it was edible. So it's all good in my book.
Now I have to go to the bank to pay some bills and deposit some checks.
All I seem to need at this point is a minivan full of kids to become a Desperate Housewife.
Yikes!

Wala na namang pasok!!!
What to do, what to do :p
Like most students, I should be rejoicing with the thought of an extra day to sleep it, but the way things have been going these past few months, almost EVERY day has been an extra day to sleep in for me.
So kids, be sure to stretch your (day) law school education to five years and then enroll in 8 measly units for the first semester.

Krissy and our cousins Michelle and Menchu are in Southmall now. I thought about going with them but decided against it because I should be studying for this Saturday's mid-term exam. "Should" being the operative word.
Menchu is almost 9 months pregnant so we're just waiting for her to burst open and produce her baby boy.
Everyone is excited to see the newest addition to the family, but no one is more excited than my mom because as the doctor, she can't leave until Menchu gives birth. And my mom has been itching to go to Bacolod and Cebu and then later this month to the States. Now we all know where I got my wanderlust tendencies.
The good doctor has thus advised that Menchu take frequent strolls to expedite the birthing process. Hence this afternoon's trip to Southmall.
I knew all that malling had to be good for something!
I can't remember the password for my dad's Mabuhay Miles account!
I filled out the form around two months ago and today i've tried dozens of possible passwords and none of them match! And the password hint is wrong too! Seriously, how could I forget my grandmother's maiden name?
Hassle chong.
Maliligo na lang ako.

While waiting for the water to heat, let me just say that on any given day I would never let this pass but just because it's your birthday, I'll let you live.
Happy birthday Krissy!!!
Now excuse me while I clean the room of the piles of clothing you discarded from last night's seven millionth costume change for your date with Chu.
The birthday girl doing God-knows-what in Batangas
Before, a coffeeshop would probably be the last place I would voluntarily go to. It's not a statement nor a protest against over priced designer coffee and their many permutations (although it is horrendously overpriced) I just simply don't drink coffee. Never have, never did, never will.
However, today I stopped by Mocha Blends in phase 1 to prepare for next week's paper on Law and Economics. I read about "The economic essence of tort law" and also on "Minimizing the social costs of accidents". And as I sipped my tea, I instantly felt myself miraculously absorbing all those economic jargons that merely used to make my head swim. It's the tea! The 100 peso tea infused with all sorts of good stuff found in Mother Nature is suddenly making me smarter!! Hooray for overpriced tepid tea!!!
That had to be the most expensive tablespoon of brewed leaves I've ever ingested in my entire life. And so the search continues for the perfect review spot.

Excerpts from the most sycophantic enthusiastic wedding coverage ever.
"Erase the government aura that creates the awesome presence and there is Gwendolyn Garcia, simply, a mother. The mother radiating pride and joy that her only son, Paulo, has finally decided to settle down with a girl of his choice, the love of his life, Michele, the strikingly lovely daughter of Nelson and Luz Geneston of Leyte"
"However, what riveted my attention was the sight of Marissa Fernan who was incredibly, sensationally marvelous in a gown, also in fuschia, by Inno Sotto which was feminine and magical, adding height and subtracting weight Marissa looked truly gorgeous, I neglected to notice her compadre Thaddeus Durano."
And then suddenly I can't find anything to blog about. I guess this is what's known as blogger's block.
Or maybe I can't think of anything bloggable because I have all this free time. Ironic I know.
Two things though:
1) I really, really should start studying for the Bar. I know it's still 14 months away but one can never be too prepared. However, I just can't seem to gather enough maturity to actually sit down and start opening books. I know that I'll just end up kicking myself in the future for not managing my time well. Oh well, old dogs and new tricks, or something like that.
2) Enrico Villanueva got married last weekend! There goes another dream down the drain :c

My very first youtube video and it's about...Maddie! No surprise there :p
Maddie playing with Tito Drago. Guess who's having more fun?
There's something wrong with my blog, it doesn't seem to load on Mozilla but it's fine on IE. Weird. I smell a conspiracy...
Anyway, I'm currently reading "Undomesticated Goddess" by Sophie Kinsella (Thanks Toie!) and I'm crossing my fingers that I don't end up like Samantha Sweeting. I don't want to be an overworked, workaholic, law-firm slave. Ayoko!
Maybe I'll start taking dance classes and then audition for the Pussycat Dolls. Now that's a stellar career right there.
Our house has been extra full lately. You'd think that with the parents, five kids, two cousins, several helpers and one dog all under one roof, we'd be better off hanging a "No Vacancy" sign at our door. But nope, the official family motto is "The more the merrier".
So to the above mixture, we are adding: a daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, grandparents, aunt and uncle, doctor cousin and a pregnant cousin and her husband.
Sonia's Garden in Tagaytay is officially becoming my family's favorite place when it comes to celebrating special occasions or the absolute must-see when we have visitors to entertain.
My cousin Mike graduated from San Beda last Friday so that was more than enough reason to darken Sonia's doors once more. It was my second time to go there yesterday and my parents' fifth visit.
As with our other visits, the food was good, the flowers exquisite and the afternoon, delightful. But this time, we finally met the good lady, Sonia.
Not bad pa rin.

I've been daydreaming of food for the past few days now. I want slices of taco pizza and spinach-cheese pizza from Big Apple. Then any of the burgers from Gourmet Cafe with fries and finally, a banana cupcake or a chocolate caramel mini cake from Le Four, the bakery/restaurant near our house.
The good/bad thing is that all these eating places are right inside BF Homes! Even if the water situation is despicable and even if it's getting more and more ghetto with the security (what security?) breaches, BF Homes is still my foodie paradise.
To make everything more delicious than they already are, I discovered that I lost 2 kilos since April. So I definitely have a lot of work to do :)
In my mother's clinic, one of the most common questions asked is: What milk should I give my baby? To this, the pedia's usual reply would be to try the different brands first to see which one baby is "hiyang" to. The parents then dutifully follow and try the different brands out in the market.
It's funny how parents, in their quest for the best of the best, search far and wide for the perfect nutrition for their babies when they could have easily skipped the trial and error altogether and just zoomed in on mommy's breasts.
Breastmilk is the most underrated and most overlooked source of nutrition for babies. Personally, I blame the formula manufacturers for this. Everyday, we are bombarded with commercials which show this milk having the necessary building blocks for baby's growth; this one having this particular mineral/protein which makes the nutrients stick to baby's system; while another formula takes the "gifted child" route and so on and so forth. The bottomline seems to be that formula is so much better than mother's milk, to prove their point, they show a well-dressed mother feeding her happy baby from a bottle and then contrasts this with a dumpy and unkempt woman unsuccessfully trying to breastfeed a wailing baby.
I really don't know why I feel so strongly about this cause. Maybe it's because I see our patients scrounging around for money to buy infant formula and then only giving half the recommended dosage to the baby so that the powdered formula will last as long as possible. It's ironic how those who can ill-afford to buy breastmilk substitutes are those who end up buying them, while those who can buy a truckload of formula are the ones who breastfeed. The difference in choices is not in the size of their bank accounts but in their access to information. Mother's who arm themselves with research know that breastmilk IS the best milk for baby. While those who don't have access to the same information, have no choice but to rely on television commercials.
Another reason why I believe in the innate power of breastfeeding is because of my lovely niece. My sister-in-law, Charmaine, has been breastfeeding Maddie since birth and has nothing but good things to say about its benefits.
Krissy is at the Araneta Coliseum with her friends. Drago and Margot are at the Palms clubhouse with their friends. While the rest of us are here at home alternating between the delayed telecast at Channel 2 and the "scrambled" live telecast.
The Pacquiao-Larios match has started in the live telecast, while only the match with the blonde Pinoy is showing on Channel 2. In spite of the distortions in the live feed, one can still follow what's going on in the match. So take that you greedy cable providers!
Sure they're watching it live but WE have a box and a half of the famous 20-inch pizzas from Big Apple. So who's sorry now?!
Please do excuse me while I pray over the television set, maybe God will be up for another miracle and suddenly unscramble the live telecast. I mean hey, this isn't the parting of the Red Sea, surely, He can do us all this itty-bitty favor :p
