The Imax Experience
G had free tickets for last night's Superman screening at the Imax Theater in SM Mall of Asia, so before you could say "Faster than a speeding bullet", we were off to see the Man of Steel. After the screening, we went back to the lobby to use the bathroom and I was immediately dazzled when I saw a bevy, a plethora, a gamut of artistas! Basta, ang dami-daming artista! I was probably the most starstruck person at the Imax lobby :p There was Dina Bonnevie talking with Tessa Prieto and other people. Then Danica Sotto joined their group with her boyfriend (who I think was Antonio Aquitania, or at least someone who looked like him). Next to them was Erik Santos with Christian Bautista, I couldn't see if the girl with them was Rachel Ann Go because she had her back turned to me.
It was a slow walk to the bathroom, not because of the crowd, but because of my many surreptitious glances around the lobby. I mean God forbid that I be unmasked for the starstruck fan I really was:p But I almost squealed when I entered the bathroom because inside was Iza Calzado and Karylle! They were fixing their makeup so I quickly did what I had to do so that I could still catch them at the sink while I nonchalantly washed my hands. Unfortunately, they weren't there when I got out of the stall :c
I waited for G at the lobby and I almost bumped into Bobot Mortiz and Mich Valdes. Before long, the people started going inside the theater so it was our cue to leave and right outside was this guy in full Superman costume. I giggled and pointed him out to G but I quickly realized that the guy in costume was KC Montero and he was with Geneva Cruz and Jay-R (inggit si Aman!). By this time, I had checked my shame at the door and was unabashedly staring at their group. Too bad that G was hesitant to whip out his phone for a photo-op :C So much for true love.
Oh yeah, the movie gave me a headache and a crick in the neck. We were seated at the third row watching an 8-storey tall screen so I was fairly woozy afterwards. The promised 3D effects also didn't work because even with the special glasses, the images didn't pop out. Unlike the trailers which had me trying to grab the things floating in front of me and ducking to avoid the careening cars, the movie itself was not as impressive 3D-wise. I think it didn't work because the movie probably wasn't originally intended to be 3D or maybe it was because we were seated too near.
I don't know the complete press release on Imax but from where we were seated, I definitely saw a lot of blurry images. So much for unprecedented clarity. But again, maybe it was because we were practically kissing the movie screen.
Still, I had fun last night :) Just imagine, I saw all those artistas! And Brandon Routh wasn't half bad while Kevin Spacey was deliciously evil.
