Last week was uncharacteristically hectic. "Uncharacteristically" because I usually don't bother, I mean, participate in extra curricular activities but last week, I was school spirit personified.

There was the vice relay where I played marshall and manned the sisig booth (I actually had to cut succession for this. so sad, not!) and the Freshman Night where we danced in between sets.

Playing marshall took virtually no effort but the dance part was horrible. I can't imagine how a less than 3 minute song can take hours and hours to choreograph and perfect. It just doesn't seem commensurate, that's all. Anyway, it's done, we more or less nailed it and with the entrance of new Portians, that means we're off the hook na. Hooray for new blood! To read more about the Freshman Night, please go here.

After this week, I still don't understand why some people go loco over extra-curricular activities, because the way I see it, anything remotely related to school is still school stuff and school stuff reminds me of school, which I try to avoid as far as humanly possible. I guess I'll never know then. Oh well, to each his or her own. Whatever turns you on. Whatever floats your boat and whatever cliches you can still think of.

So anyway, save for the memory of blinding lights and making a conscious effort to smile, the whole less than three minute routine is a blur. But together with the recurring refrain of "This shit is bananas! B-A-N-A-N-A-S!", I'll also have my sore thighs and black and blue knees to remind me of the whole ordeal, I mean, experience.

But griping aside, it really wasn't all that bad :)

Sometimes I wonder about the types of people who visit this blog. Judging from the search queries used, the people who bloghop to Sabitski Point could be classified under the following categories:

a) giddy- chiz escudero is cute
b) starstruck- yul servo, john lloyd cruz kissing bea alonzo picture, claudine barretto picture, cris (kris?) aquino
c) medical- yellow mucous, bird flu
d) desperate students working on their papers- importance of pldt in communication, theme in f.sionil jose's mass
e) perverts- pictures of children in kamasutra positions
f) people I actually know in real life or have come to know through this blog

Interesting. Very interesting. If only for the search queries used, I'll probably never ever grow tired of blogging.

If I were to indulge my drama queen self, I would probably rant and get all angsty while trying to be artsy-fartsy. But as it is, I'm just too tired to do any of those self-indulgent stuff and would rather embrace sleep in all its wonder and mystery.

So why am I still pounding away with this entry? I'm asking myself that very same thing right now.

Later!

P.S.
Fatigue is a bitch.

Jill: Happy birthday! I have a gift for you. Look in my bag.
Krissy: Yey! Is it this one? (pulls out a Tower Records plastic bag with a CD inside).
J: Yeah, I wanted to get you the CD you wanted, but I couldn't find "The Best of 911"
K: Ummm...it's "The Best of 311"
J: Ooooppppssss..... :p

Don't you just hate people who compare what they do to what you do in an effort to get you to do what they want to do?

Example:
A: It's Friday night! Let's go out!
You: I can't. I have two classes tomorrow.
A: So what? I also have work tomorrow, but that's not gonna stop me.
You: Well, that's you.

But what I really want to say is: Dude, I go to law school, while you sit around all day thinking of numbers to fill up your so-called reports with. There's just no comparison. Don't even bother.

However, because I have this ingrained need to keep the peace, I just end up saying: Well, that's you.

I know. I'm a wuss.

Sometimes you think you have it all figured out. Today and tomorrow are neatly planned out, with nary a room for change or improvisation. You know what you want, or at least are secure in the thought that you think you do. And then life suddenly throws you a curveball.

Plans are ruined. Sacred sleeping schedules are rudely set aside. You're told that you're constantly contradicting yourself, much to your chagrin. You start believing again and realize that if only for this, it doesn't matter if the protective wall you've zealously built around yourself crumbles.

Nope, it doesn't matter at all because it's all that. You're all that.

Char and Mik-Mik are leaving today for the US, so yesterday we had a despedida for them at Congo Grille. In the evening, Mik-Mik also had his own despedida for his neighborhood friends.

The house was thus polluted with kids. Kids "working out" in the gym, kids running up and down the stairs, kids squabbling over the two computers and so on and so forth. Suffice to say, it was pure mayhem. And that would be the last we'd have of that for the next few months. On a normal day, I would have been annoyed with the presence of too much rug rats but last night, I wasn't.

Since everyone seems to be coming out with their press releases, I too would like to jump on this bandwagon and have my own press release.

Ahem.

The past few days have been interesting, to put it mildly. Surreal but nice, but more surreal than anything else. So to the person concerned, do bear with me while I gather my scattered wits.

And thank you :)

Was washing my hair yesterday morning when the water suddenly turned all brown! Apparently, the water pump was being fixed and was giving out rust-filled water in the meantime. With no clean water to wash up with, I had to go to school with crunchy helmet hair. Hassle.

Wala lang. I just wanted to share.

Friday clinic duties. Went through SCRA cases during lull moments.

9PM. Studied. Jollibee is noise-pollution central so headed on to Tropical Hut. Went home. Smuggled in a few hours of sleep and studied some more.

Then I went to school and did school related things.

Then right after class, I went to Mag:Net to meet up with Karen for merienda.

Then I rode a trike to the corner of Aurora and Katipunan and got on the purple line.
Then I got off at Araneta Center and traversed through Gateway Mall to get to the MRT.

Then I got on the MRT and got off at the Ayala station.

Then I walked through SM Makati (the place to be), Glorietta and Landmark to reach the Ayala terminal.

Then I rode a van to go home to BF.

Then I got off along Aguirre Avenue where the car was waiting to bring me back to the white and green house.

All of this on 4 hours of sleep. No wonder I'm seeing double.

Saturday night=sleeping time.

My contribution to the Malcolm Lex.

The Taj Mahal was built to commemorate Mumtaz Mahal's undying love for his wife, Shah Jehan. It stands in splendor along the Yamuna River in Agra and has long astounded people the world over with its architectural magnificence and astounding beauty. True, the Tajma has nothing of the grandeur nor history of its namesake, but once you enter through their welcoming arch you'll surely find yourself saying "Not bad pa rin."

Tajma can be found at the building at the back of Shakey's Katipunan. It's a cozy nook which manages to impart an opulent feel and if you'll let it, it can transport you back to mysterious India (or maybe that was just the hookah talking).

Tajma is not exactly the place where you'd bring a first-date-you-hope-to-impress to, it's also not a student-strictly-on-allowance friendly kind of place (of course, the presumption is that this is read by penny-pinching law students who'd rather save up to buy the newest batch of readings than go out to eat), it's more of a let's-go-somewhere-different- because-I've-had-it-up-to-here-with-cafeteria-food kind of place. You know, special in a not so special kind of way.

This being a food review, let's get down to the nitty-gritty, the good stuff, the meat of the matter. The food. I ordered hummus together with chicken kebab and I particularly enjoyed how the pita bread dipped in hummus complemented the tender and well-seasoned chicken. Definitely a good combination.

Gracie ordered the beef shawarma and while she was slightly nonchalant about the shawarma, she was all agog over the chili sauce. All agog and teary eyed, but still begging for more. Yup, the sauce was that good. I think she even managed to swipe a bottle of the good stuff, but don't tell anyone.

Bobbie ordered the chelo kebab barg which may sound too exotic for your everyday palate, but is really nothing more than skewered barbecued beef cooked with Indian flair. Rather, make that a well-cooked and seasoned, tender, melt in your mouth skewered barbecued beef.

But more than the food and the faux-luxurious interiors, what I'll most remember is the hookah. If Marlboro does decide to come up with strawberry flavored cigarettes, then count me in on the smoking bandwagon. Watch all your law school worries go up in smoke with only .5% nicotine and various tutti-frutti flavors to pick from. Yum.
So if you find yourself with some free time, around 100p to 150p in cold hard cash and conveniently happen to be in the Katipunan area, feel free to hop on your magic carpet and hustle over to Tajma. Namaste.

Today I bought a blouse/dress from Bobbie. While I was admiring the blouse/dress, my conscience kept on screaming "Are you crazy?! You already have too many blouses! You're supposed to be saving money not spending it like it was on fire!" To which I sheepishly replied "But it's so pretty and it has these cute beads and I can pay in installments and one can never have enough clothes yadda yadda yadda". Bottomline is, it's mine. Mwahahahaha!

A quick stop at National Bookstore for some school supplies brought me face to face with a row of scrapbooking stuff. I started a scrapbook about four years ago but got waylaid because of (1)blogging (2)lack of artistic skills (3)an uncooperative sister who refused to do the calligraphy (4)lack of magazines cut and paste (note to friends: please return my magazines ASAP). However, I soon found myself gushing over the scrapbooking materials available at NBS. There were acid-free stickers (not for the druggies), fuzzy bendable things (for who knows what), foam cut-outs (I got the stars and moon type!), tags and mini-clips (my current favorite thing in the universe) and whole lot more of odds and ends. I bought some foam cut-outs and summer stickers, I had to stop myself from buying "It's a girl!" themed stuff because the ultrasonographer said that she's just 85% sure that it's gonna be a girl (my could-be niece, that is). One can never be too sure about these things.

So that was my version of retail therapy and I'm still surprisingly giddy over my newly-acquired things. I now come to the conclusion that if the seemingly inane stuff happen to make you smile, then maybe they're not so useless after all.

Bow.

Maybe it is true after all, I just don't know how to. Perhaps just afraid to? Or maybe just can't. Won't? Can't.

Or maybe I just think too much. But if I'm even thinking about it, then that's wrong too right?

Let's not.

Who knew that such a simple thing as grills for the renovated gym could plunge our house into total darkness? Three days of total darkness to be more precise. So I did have a valid excuse for not posting anything for one whole week, the rabid fans can now stop pestering me for an update :)

I think I had it relatively better than most of the people at home. I'd be in school the whole day, bundled up in the 20 degree comfort of the library. While back in the dirty south, my sister-in-law could only fan herself in disgust while waiting for the Meralco people to come and do their magic. See? School is cool.

But for some bizaare reason, I found the darkness oddly comforting. Maybe one of these days, I'll turn off the light, unplug the radio, lock the door and just stay perfectly still inside my room. Who knows, I might finally discover the meaning of life. But for now, I think I'll crank the A/C up and zone out in front of MTV and Myx.
There's always tomorrow night.
